FAIZABAD (PANinfo-icon): The northeastern Badakhshan province governor and the chief of the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) both survived an ambush on Monday, an official said.

Governor Shah Wali-ullah Adeeb and NDS chief Ali Ahmad Mubaraz were attacked by militants in the Bashand area of the Ordoj district after returning from visits to Shkasham, Wakhan, and Zebak districts, Abdul Maroof Rasakh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

One militant was killed during the ensuing half-hour clash between the militants  and the security forces. One militant was injured and another arrested, Rasakh said.

No government employees or security forces suffered any casualties, he said.
