Nangarhar Dar-ul-Hifaz director gunned down

Nangarhar Dar-ul-Hifaz director gunned down

May 27, 2014 - 13:31

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead the director of Shaheed Mohammad Hashim Khan Dar-ul-Hifaz (Quraninfo-icon memorization centre) in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday. He was 70.

Mohammad Asif Shinwari, a spokesman for the Department of Educationinfo-icon (MoE), condemned the assassination of Maulviinfo-icon Daud Shah and demanded the immediate arrest of the killers.

Gunmen took Shah out of school and sprayed him with bullets, Shinwari told Pajhwok Afghan News. The incident took place in Ahmadkhel area of Khogyani district on Monday night.

Shah served the Dar-ul-Hifaz for more than 50 years. However, residents said Shah had been killed, because his son was a government employee. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
